Abstract

Most people in Indonesia still observe hilal to determine new month of hijriah. Among twelve months of hijriah, the most crucial hilal is to determine new month of Ramadhan, Syawal, and Zulhijah. In that three months, there are some religion traditions; First, fasting in Ramadhan, Ied Fitr in Syawal, Arafah fasting and Ied Adha in Zulhijah. Hilal is astronomy observation that can be done by using some technology today. It can use digital camera, telescope, and computerize mounting. ISRN UHAMKA develop telescope system to hilal consist of William Optics Zenith Star 71ED Telescope, CCD Celestron Skyris 274M Camera, Baader 680nm infrared filter, iOptron CEM60 Mounting, and special aplication which is built using special function for hilal observation.
